ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Christian Experience

A definite born-again experience is essential for admission to WEBC&S.  Preference is given to student applicants who have established a history of active participation in their local churches.  The applicant’s commitment must include a life of personal holiness, refraining from any sinful practices.

Students who have not received the baptism in the Holy Spirit will be encouraged to seek and receive the experience.  It is expected that all applicants should be sympathetic toward the doctrinal statement contained in this catalog.

Academic Requirements

Graduation from an accredited/approved high school is the basic educational requirement for admission.  A transcript of high school work is required.  Non-high school graduates who have satisfactory GED scores will be considered.

Special Students

Applicants who are 25 years of age or older and have not graduated from a secondary school or who do not hold a high school equivalency diploma may be considered for admission as “special students.”  An applicant may be admitted as a special student provided he gives evidence of ability to pursue the courses elected.  Applicants for the special student status will be considered for admission on an individual basis by the Admissions Committee.

Age/Health Requirements

Applicants must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment.  Special consideration may be given to younger applicants by the Admissions Committee.  There is no upper age limit.  Applicants must be in good health and be capable of carrying a demanding academic load.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Formal application for admission must be made on regular forms supplied by the college.  All application forms should be filed with the Office of Admissions by August 15 for fall semester and December 15 for spring semester.  The following forms must be on file with the college:

1. Application form and photo.
2. Medical report.
3. Three references:  one from the pastor, one from a teacher, and one from a Christian friend.
4. Transcript from high school and post-secondary studies.  Official transcripts must be sent directly to WEBC from their place of origin.  They must not be hand carried or issued to students.
5.  A non-refundable application fee of $20.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

WEBC welcomes qualified international students.  In addition to the regular application procedures outlined, four essential requirements apply to all international applicants:

1. They must be able to understand and use the English language fluently.
2. They must present official records verifying completion of a secondary education equivalent to an American high school diploma.  A certified translation must accompany all transcripts.
3. They must provide evidence of adequate financial resources with which to fund their educational expenses.

    4. All Foreign Students are also required to fill out the Foreign Student Financial Report and submit it with their application.

CAMPUS VISITATION

Applicants are cordially invited to visit the campus, to obtain application forms, and to confer with a counselor from Admissions regarding their plans for college.  It is required to write or phone the Office of Admissions in advance to arrange an appointment.  While on campus, the prospective student will attend classes and chapel, talk with an Admissions counselor, and meet students.  Housing can be provided on campus for two nights for single visitors on a “space available” basis.  Prior arrangements for housing must be made with the Office of Admissions.

STUDENT LIFE

Introduction

Students enter WEBC to be trained by Spirit-filled men and women for the glory of God. As a student, you will make the commitment to be a part of this vision.  The following seven covenant principles, are based on the Scriptures.

The Biblical foundation for each of these Covenant Principles is set forth on the following pages.  Each student is strongly urged to prayerfully consider each of these foundations for an effective ministry and testimony to the world.  It is our fervent prayer that each student will grow spiritually as well as academically. We stand ready to pray and work with each student in these areas. Please feel free to reach out if a need exists.

LIFE-STYLE COVENANT

I.  We/I covenant to seek the Lord’s guidance through daily personal prayer and Bible study and by faithfully attending daily chapels and weekly Church services.

II.  We/I covenant to be faithful and punctual in attending class sessions and other academic gatherings, constantly seeking to be diligent in developing the full potential of our/my mind.

III.  We/I covenant to practice good health and physical fitness by getting appropriate rest and exercise and by observing a balanced diet.

IV.  We/I covenant to embrace and hold to a life of personal holiness, refraining from sinful practices and observing the college standard of dress and appearance.

V.  We/I covenant to be mindful and diligent in properly handling all business and financial responsibilities.

VI.  We/I covenant to be continually involved in ministry, always looking for and using every opportunity to minister, teach, proclaim, and bless others for Christ.

VII.  We/I covenant to walk in humility toward others and live in submission to those in authority, obeying all college rules and regulations, and always manifesting a cooperative and teachable attitude.

THE LIBRARY

Just as chapel is the center of the spiritual life of the campus, so the library is the hub of the academic.

Book Check-out

Most books in the library are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed unless a hold has been placed on the book.  Some books are placed on a limited check-out or reserve and are marked accordingly.  Books are not checked out to students who have unpaid book fines.  A student may have a maximum of ten books checked out at any one time.

Fines

A fine is levied for each book or other library material which is overdue.  A lost-book fee is assessed for books and material 30 days overdue.

CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS

Full-time — A student enrolled for 12 or more semester hours.
Part-time — A student enrolled for less than 12 semester hours.
Auditor — A student enrolled in class but receiving no credit.

A student’s classification reflects only work accomplished at WEBC&S and transfer credit granted from other institutions.

ACADEMIC COUNSELING

Interpretation of degree plans, selection of courses, and assistance in completing registration are all provided by the counseling services of the college.
